Sonnet No 6 by me

SONNET NO 6
.                      by
.      Deepak Menon
.
The oceans be deep yet the Sea of Sorrow is deeper still
In which the lover from his love estranged, wallows
The mountains be high yet higher is the lonely tower still
From which the lover’s lonely gaze scans the hollows
Enervated by the calamity that knows no earthly parallel
Yet pervades the world of humanity in equal measure
The look or word that transforms heaven into fiery hell
Hurling into depths of sadness what once was pleasure
The sight of a vacuous smile upon the same upturned face
Now meaningless as it follows a vacant and empty look
The frantic nonchalance in the searching for just a trace
Of the raging storms that once his heart by force took
And in that fleeting moment, do stop the sands of time
Life losing its lustre, and the song of life – its rhyme.

That was absolutely beautiful! So sad in its beauty, though, yet almost promising as well... even if it is a promise of another, more illustrious life after this one.

You write with such a grace and ... knowing, Deepak! *hugs*

Once again you turn something into something it wasn't meant to be. Wasn't it you that said something about how people need to stop thinking singularly? Not sure the world could handle you on a global level... and if I weren't breathing, I'd be haunting your arse right now! :p

Very beautifully said. This is the reality of life!

I wrote this quite some time ago .. and thank you all for the nice comments - nd
@ Kyo - I don't think I was at all sad when I wrote this sonnet -- must have been a thought that strayed into my mind about how it happens that sometimes one finds people whom we knew were deeply in love .. and now seem to be strangers together .. and perhaps one may detect in a searching glance from one to the other .. a searching for the glory of the times now suddenly vanished for ever ... and I do think that life would have lost its lustre and rhyme .. would never want any one to experience that ..
@ Shane :- Welcome to publish anything I write Shane , and this sonnet was not intended to elicit a "sob" out of you ha ha
@ Varsha :- It may be a rare reality of life - but otherwise it happens infrequently because most of the time love seldom seems to be the core basis of marriage these days ..

Well good to know that our sunshiny Deepak isn't feeling sad. :) For you to be able to feel the emotions from remote viewing and put them to words... divine! ;)

I cannot help but love sad things because they make me feel.

Dear Kyo - you wrote "So sad in its beauty, though, yet almost promising as well..." and so I had to read the sonnet again .. and somehow can not divine how it struck you as 'promising'. In fact I think that the loved would have lost his lust for life on the happening of a vacuous look from the person the lover only expected adoration ... of course one can extrapolate the "look' in various dimensions ... but then one would have to delve very deeply and would probably find exactly what one set out to look for .. this way or that .. I really don't know.
And thank you for reading it so many times .. I do hope that one of these days there will be a spurt of poetry in me again .. and I shall write something really worthwhile ... the problem with me is that I do really have such a short attention span ..

Dear Rose .. having been a fan of your beautiful paintings so long .. I can assure you that you do not need to read sad things to feel .. you are blessed with a depth of feeling for others and the world at large, which may not be easily detected in most people in this world ...

And Varsha - this is not the reality of life .. it is a random and rare happening .. generally it is my belief that love is quite steadfast and eternal ....

かい きょうり (Kyouri Kai) said...

Exactly! ;) I find it promising that love does not happen only once or in a certain way, but in many ways and in many instances... for if one has lost the lustre of life due to a 'lost' love, then perhaps love can be found... again. :)
